So Josh and I watch How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM for the really cool kids) and the last few weeks have been heavy man!! Marshall lost his dad - which kinda hits everyone in the gut anyway but they had a big discussion about "last words" and how important or not important they are.....
Plus have you ever been to a funeral and they say all this great stuff about everyone and you think to yourself, "I wonder what they'll say about me when I'm gone....I better shape up and do some good stuff!" If you haven't thought that then you are better person than a good friend of mine.....ahem.
All of that to say today I sat down today and wrote my parents and in laws how much they mean to me and why.... I have done it before for my grandparents, but parents are so often taken for granted and they totally rock and are deserving of unbridled praise and adulation - especially mine!!
I have been trying to do better about letting people know how special they are to me and that if I lost someone suddenly there wouldn't be any doubt in my mind that they knew how much they meant to me.
Taking more time to make people a priority, spending more time together, stretching myself to enjoy the moment and not continuously looking for the next event are kinda my goals for this year.
Last years was to get a grip and be more fun - I think I'll keep rolling that one forward!
All of that to say - reach out and let someone know why they are so special. Don't save all the glowing gushyness for when they're gone - spread the love now man!!

Proceed with Caution
Turns out listening to 102.1 the edge with windows down leads to too much fun!
Examples:
1) We left the house to start our night out at 8:00 pm on a Saturday night!
2) We stayed out in a way to loud restaurant til 1:00 AM!!
3) We decided to just pick up and go to DALLAS to see Black Swan cause that's the only place it was playing.
Or listening to 102.1 the edge causes you to pull your head out of your booty and realize you're not as domestic as you think you are...... Either way its been a blast and I hope that we keep a little crazy. ; )

Jammin out from the edge
So now its Christmas season and the peace of Thanksgiving is soooo last week - now is the time for pure madness, long lists and goin off the rails on a crazy train! However this year I'm trying so hard to play it cool ; ) Its only December third and we'd already had a sister conference call for intervention and delegation.....I called it on myself so thats a healthy step I think ....right?
I find myself overwhelmed with fun ideas, great projects, long lists that are all self inflicted. No one else knows that I wanted to knit everyone a scarf for a themed group pictures - so if it doesn't happen its only my brain that is sad. Hubby is being such a great help this year listening to my ideas and boldly crossing off projects with little to no explanation other than - girl your losing it, and even offering to take some of the less insane projects on himself!!
This year we got Christmas up "a week late" by December 3rd so really not late at all - and the world didn't end and in place of putting it up I had some really great times enjoy other things than decoration madness....
All that to say I'm trying to do better, take deep breaths, focus on reality, and keeping my red wine close.
On a completely separate note while the weather has been nice hubby and I have been having a BLAST driving around with the windows down jamming out the 102.1 The Edge. I have never been good with remembering artists but I know when a song comes on that I love.
I usually listen to pop and country and oldies - but The Edge is bringing back old songs from high school like the Beastie Boys, Linkin Park, Smashing Pumpkins, Cake and so many other old high school loud, angsty, teenage drama songs.
Singing out loud with the windows down and the volume scandalously high is such a fun thing to do - I'd recommend you try is soon!! Just don't do it too long or you'll affect your hearing ; )

Pure Joy
Things lately have seemed to be pretty even keeled and I am loving it and focusing on enjoying every moment, but trying to be mindful that life can change on a dime.... Sounds a bit bleak written out - anywho!
We have an amazing small group Bible study that we meet with once a week and one of the ladies there Becky Siegrist owns C1 DESIGN & PHOTOGRAPHY at http://www.c1design.com/ and she offered to take everyones pictures for Christmas as her gift to us - and WOW we were all blown away by the amazing work that she did!!!
I mean Josh and I aren't terrible looking people by any means if I do say so myself : ) but she captured the love and joy and that is a gift!! See how great she is and how cute we are?! I even got to wear a tiara - that ladies and gentleman is a excellent evening!

As a side note Josh always teases me about wrinkling my nose when I laugh (in a good way - he said its the top 3 reasons he married me) seriously 30 years old I don't think I've ever seen it captured on film.

Giant Blueberry
This weekend Josh and I got to go with all my sisters and their gentleman callers to a blast of a camping trip in Turner Falls. The weather was AWESOME, company even better and once we went the right way on the road we found the falls.
If you knew me 10 years ago I was crazy hella fun! and now ..... sometimes I feel like I'm turning into an agorophobic (fear of leaving the house). I come up with the best ideas ever, get all excited, and the crippled by reality, planning, fear? Not sure what it is but I have noticed a change. The "old" me never would have been "proud" of myself for deciding on Tuesday to go camping on Friday....... but only going for one night cause 2 is too much....
Anywho the camping was a BLAST if I didn't mention it - and I'll have to remember that next time I really love an idea and then try to talk myself out of it......
